How To Clean Install Windows 7 On A Ssd

I need to do a clean install of windows 7 pro on a laptop with Windows viii standard preinstalled.  I have installed Windows 7 numerous times before, but from what I read Windows 8 installs differently so some things need to be inverse earlier you can install Windows 7.  Plus the fact it is a SSD can also add together some steps.  I would like a unproblematic guide from another Tech that has washed this numerious times.  I have an external dvd bulldoze specifically for this laptop and Windows 7 dvd and license ready to go.

Yous don't even need to modify the UEFI at all for win 7 every bit it supports UEFI natively. If the machine shipped with Win 8 installed, you only demand to enable legacy support and disable Secure Kick to successfully load your OS and naturally boot to your installation media. If anything else, you may only need to manually provide a driver for the SSD during windows setup, but otherwise it's no different than a bare metal Bone install on a clean drive and new build. You typically practice non even demand to format the original Win 8 partition if it was never initialized, but can rather only resize the partition and install Win 7 beside it (both will be able to boot when you are through! 8D). I did that recently w/2 new machines that I purchased for a new function nosotros began providing. :)

Had a instructor when I was in school said he had to change a file on the computer that had his production key earlier it would let him change the OS installation. Something with his BIOS was not letting him boot to anything but the Windows 8 Os. Looked a little online and found a video of a guy saying to go into troubleshooting -> Advanced Options -> UEFI Firmware and changing the boot mode.

But did a new HP laptop like this, didn't affect a thing and it worked fine.  Mayhap I got lucky.

I believe this would but apply if you have UEFI and not the standard erstwhile and trusty BIOS.

Y'all may need to change the boot mode in the system setup options, but attempt to boot from the optical drive before yous go mucking about in there.

If the organization in question does have UEFI AND it's set to Secure Boot, you will need to tweak things for Legacy support.

I've done 10 HP all-in-ane that came preinstalled with Win8 and a Surface Pro.  All were fix the UEFI and I had to change that.  Some other thing to be aware of, Windows 7 sp1 did not have about of the drivers for the all-in-one (thankfully the USB 2.0 still worked) and Windows 8 did non have the network drivers for the Surface.  Then from what I've learned, go a re-create of the Win7 drivers and save them to a flash drive before yous image the new Win8 automobile.

I did modify bios to disable secure boot, enabled legacy selection ROMs and selected legacy instead of UEFI for the kick listing option.  I did not find any area to allow me to pick with device to kicking from, however I just used F12 on the dell screen to select the DVD rom to kick from.  This did allow me to install Windows seven.  The bug I ran into is that this car had similar 6 partitions.   I read on some places to wipe all those out and others said non to do that if yous desire to have back up from dell.  And so I only formatted the primary bone partition and installed Windows vii on that.  Information technology did say that was not a recommended setup after I selected the partition to install on.  When it finished the first part and rebooted I got a "Invalid Segmentation Table!" error and it would non beginning windows.  Subsequently my mini panic attack I went back in and enabled UEFI in bios again and and then it booted into Windows seven.  I did have to install a nic driver which I don't call up ever having to practice that with a new install of Windows 7.  I would also annotation information technology is important to make sure there are Window 7 drivers before proceeding with this.  I had already checked if this laptop (Dell latitude 6430u) had Windows 7 drivers and it did.
